Bar Giyora - Simeon Desert Wine (Canaan)

Israeli desert wine with a special story: The Bar Giyora Simeon grows on a 200-meter-high sand dune in the middle of the Negev desert, near the biblical encampment of the Children of Israel in Kadesh Barnea. A kosher, dry red wine from the Schneider family winery – for all who not only want to support Israel, but also taste it.

The grapes thrive in the desert on a 200-meter-high dune. The extreme dryness protects the vines and the cool nights allow for excellent acid development.

This year, twice as much as usual was harvested. Thus, the vines produced a fine and rare drop of wine, from which the history of Israel and Bar Giyora's passion for the desert can be tasted.

The wine matured for 10 months in barrique barrels. The vineyard is located near the biblical encampment of the Children of Israel in Kadesh Barnea on the border with Egypt. The Bar Giyora winery is owned by the Schneider family.

The name "Simeon" is no coincidence: In this area of the Negev, the tribe of Simeon – one of the twelve tribes of Israel – settled in biblical times.
